Nimoy, who played Spock in the original "Star Trek" TV series in the mid 1960s (1966–69), died at the age of 83 after a battle with end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The actor's former co-star William Shatner has released a statement claiming he "loved him like a brother" and the current Spock, Zachary Quinto, has posted some touching words on the sad news as well.
